What is AdChoices?
AdChoices is an industry-standard program designed to inform users about how their data is collected and used for interest-based advertising. With ad:personam, every creative ad uploaded will automatically include the AdChoices icon, ensuring transparency and giving users the ability to control their advertising preferences.
How to Enable the AdChoices Icon
The AdChoices icon (AdNotice) can be enabled or disabled when configuring your ad tags. You'll find the AdNotice toggle in:
- Publishing a Creative — When adding a creative to a Line Item, use the AdNotice switch in the tag configuration section
- Tag Settings — When editing individual tag settings for a creative
- Batch Tag Edits — When updating multiple tags at once
By default, AdNotice is enabled to ensure compliance with industry standards and user privacy expectations.
What Happens When You Click the AdChoices Icon?
When users click on the AdChoices icon displayed on ads, they are directed to tools and resources that allow them to manage the use of their data for targeted advertising. Key actions users can take include:
- Opting Out of Interest-Based Advertising: Users can opt out of interest-based ads through tools provided by the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA), which help them manage how their data is collected and shared across participating advertisers.
- Accessing Information About Data Usage: Users can learn how their data is being collected and used for advertising purposes, promoting transparency in the ad ecosystem.
